About the Bootcamp: The Digital Women Bootcamp is a free 8-week, instructor-led online training program with classes uniquely tailored for women, especially those with maternal responsibilities. Classes run weekly, and participants are expected to complete assignments and submit a final capstone project at the end of the programme. The capstone project is mandatory for members because it allows them to showcase their knowledge and is a prerequisite for receiving their certificates of completion during the virtual closing ceremony.
Since May 2021, MumsWhoCode has enrolled over 1000 women in 3 cohorts and equipped them with skills in the following areas: Programming, UI/UX Design, Cloud Computing, Digital Storytelling and Design with Canva, Data Science and Data Analysis.
The programme has received great feedback and testimonials from Bootcamp graduates, who have progressed to take up internship opportunities, new full-time jobs, start new businesses and have developed more confidence to accelerate their contributions in the workplace.
“Joining this Bootcamp was one of the best decisions I’ve made this year, as it gave me hands-on experience with Figma, and as a result, I’ve been able to work with international brands who need assistance with and design work done on Figma.” - O.B., UI/UX, Digital Women Bootcamp Member, Cohort 3
This initiative is volunteer-driven, facilitated by volunteers who are industry subject experts and proudly sponsored by Tech Impact Club Africa and, most recently, Pushup Africa. MumsWhoCode also maintains a global partnership with DataCamp. DataCamp is a leading ed-tech organization that has given women interested in Data careers a free annual subscription to their learning platform with over 300 courses and various career certifications. The value of the subscription is $399 per person, and so far, over 200 MumsWhoCode women have benefited from this through Digital Women Bootcamp.
